Assassin's Creed Reveals Surprising Attack on Titan Event for Thanksgiving
In a bizarre collaboration that breaks traditional expectations, Ubisoft has announced an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, offering no-cost extra story content for Shadows players.
Strange Adventure Revealed
According to the authorized release, "An unusual encounter pulls heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh mission, where rumors of banned ceremonies and fearsome transformations echo through the shadows." The plot introduces a "oddly attired woman named Ada" who tasks the characters with venturing into the Crystalline Cavern—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to save her ally from a clandestine sect.
The mission focuses on "peculiar trials and a monstrous enemy" and is available to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.
Iconic Places and Metamorphoses
The trailer features the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was formerly where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The teaser concludes with a powerful scene showing a character, presumably the hostage, changing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Exclusive Rewards and Bonus Material
Players who successfully complete the adventure will obtain an special katana alongside several artifacts concealed throughout the area in secret chests. The update also contains purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-inspired outfit for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Exclusive weapons
- Survey Corps mount
Latest Free Story Update
This release also brings the game's latest no-cost story content, titled "The Mystery." This playful mission partners Naoe and Yasuke as they swap signature skills: Naoe reveals a dramatic version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-fatal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Mystery" also features a new environmental puzzle that may ultimately clarify some unresolved questions from the main storyline.
Previous Japanese Animation Crossovers
This marks hardly the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with well-known anime properties. The series previously included a 2020 cross-promotional story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla unofficially included a quest that clearly echoed the famous series One-Punch Man.
