BF6 Players Agree: Challenges Are Overly Demanding

The debut of the eagerly awaited Battlefield 6 garnered widespread acclaim, especially for its top-tier multiplayer mode. Exclusively on Steam, concurrent player counts peaked at nearly 750,000. Yet, regardless of its fanfare, many players are protesting against a portion of the release's hardest challenges, which are necessary to access certain guns.

Gamers have begun resorting to tailored sessions created through the Portal feature to finish these tasks, highlighting just how demanding these missions have become.

Comprehending Battlefield 6 Objectives

Missions serve as Battlefield 6's permanent multiplayer tasks, as opposed to the regularly refreshed everyday and weekly missions. The game includes four classes of assignments, but while the majority merely grant cosmetics and some tools, finishing the gun missions is the sole method of acquiring a dozen out of forty-one key firearms found within the game.

A number of these locked weapons could shortly earn a place on rankings for the finest arms in Battlefield 6.

Player Outcry on Reddit

On Reddit, players are reasonably expressing their worries about how difficult and grindy several of these challenges are. One user emphasized one of the most egregious examples, needed to obtain the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Neutralize 300 foes with LMGs
  • Cause 10,000 non-ADS damage with LMGs

"This task is so terrible and entirely ill-conceived, I want to scream in frustration," is a comment that illustrates just how annoyingly hard these tasks are.

Suppression in Battlefield is weaker than it's ever been in the series, so it doesn't have anywhere near as many positive effects in fights as it had in previous games. It only registers as suppression if you miss multiple shots in a row.

At the same time, firing an LMG without aiming is wildly inaccurate and functions solely at point-blank proximity, which is not usually a position you aim to be. The same user also highlighted the irony in the SMG challenge, required for the SCW-10, which requires kills while aiming down the sights, when that mission would be much better suited to hipfire kills, and conversely.

Another Overly Demanding Challenge

One more community participant brought attention to another ridiculously tough challenge, within the long-range weapon type to access the PSR:

  • Achieve 150 headshot eliminations over 200m with marksman guns

This is challenging enough as it is, but there's an additional crucial factor to consider: the majority of Battlefield 6 maps do not even allow combat at such a long range.

There exists a reasonable assortment of map sizes, but because there are just nine levels in the game currently, it means you're limited to playing one of the larger locales, a particular valley environment, and possibly an additional option in a best-case scenario if you plan to engage from afar from a significant distance.

The Alternative Method

Nevertheless, a method exists: the portal. The custom game creator is a tool that allows you to make custom game modes on any map you prefer, complete with bots. This means you can bypass the intended method… but it doesn't really seem like the developer's vision.

Yet, if doing the challenges in a proper game feels like anti-playing, since you have to play in such an unconventional way that doesn't benefit you or your team, who can fault a player for finishing these in a personal session so allies are not impaired?

Upcoming Tweaks

It is expected if a number of these missions are toned down in the near future, because if they're not, some players simply will never acquire the gated weapons.

For now, the player base continues to share their thoughts on these demanding multiplayer missions, anticipating a fairer gaming experience in future updates.
