Diving into a Bizarre Steam Demo: Guiding a Piece of Feces in a Mission to Arrive at the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is now live, and enthusiasts have found numerous engaging indie games. However, one stands out for its offbeat concept. Titled Unko Technica, this retro-inspired platformer features a hero that is truly a piece of poop striving to make its way to a restroom. As a fun fact, "Unko" means "poop."

How you interact is straightforward: press a one button to leap. Throughout 150 levels, you'll face boss fights and visit a store to acquire outfits for your fecal avatar.

Plan your jumps precisely, since one mistake forces beginning again. Bounce off floating orbs to propel the poop upward, navigate disappearing surfaces, and touch triggers to unlock hidden paths. Gather coins for buying challenging stages in which the action gets crazy.

Graphically, the demo features vibrant level designs and catchy background music. The simple art of shifting basic polygons may remind fans of beloved games like Earthbound.

While it's difficult to recall previous releases where you are a dung character, video games have long incorporated toilet humor. For example, in Death Stranding, you can craft grenades from protagonist excrement. Titles such as Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved utilize dung as plant food. Naturally, such content shows up extensively in the role-playing game The Stick of Truth.

Putting aside its silly idea, Unko Technica has already garnered impressive recognition, such as being named best at Bandai Namco's GYAAR Studio in 2023. The demo is ready currently on Steam, with the full game scheduled to launch on PC in the fall.
