Springfield's Favorite Family Arrives in Rocket League: Unfortunately Not the Car You're Dreaming Of

We already knew that the iconic animated series was collaborating with Epic Games' battle royale, but that's not the only place where enthusiasts can experience the universe of Springfield. The beloved show is coming over to the popular soccer-driving hybrid, introducing an vehicle customization option that will also be usable in the Fortnite universe. However, whether players will truly desire to use it is a different matter, as there's only one Springfield vehicle the community is eager to drive, and this new offering isn't that one.

What Fans Really Want

Although most gamers would undoubtedly love to compete behind the wheel of The Homer—the notoriously impractical automobile Homer built personally in the classic episode "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?"—that's not what's being offered. We aren't even receiving the Canyonero, the enormous vehicle showcased in the tenth season. Rather, players are getting the family's standard well-worn four-door, which they've been driving since the show's early days. Even though this specific vehicle has accumulated plenty of miles, it remains an recognizable element of the series. For those who analyze the game's vehicle dimensions, the trusty sedan uses the same hitbox as the Dominus body type.

And it's not the sole customization item from the show arriving in the game. The event will additionally feature a set of objectives to unlock additional goodies, all of which are inspired by the show. According to a official announcement, the challenges will require players to "get as many centers and clears as there are The Simpsons seasons, gather boost canisters as if your GPS is set to The Simpsons’ house, and drive a distance worthy of acquiring the perfect donuts!"

While the full lineup of earnable items hasn't been revealed, here is what's been announced so far:

  • Blinky antenna topper
  • Homer's hedge-themed banner
  • Garbage-themed wheels
  • 20,000 XP per challenge

Based on promotional images is any indication, it seems fans will also get rims featuring a TV displaying The Simpsons' title sequence, alien antenna toppers, a sprinkled donut boost trail, and boost effects inspired by smoldering rubber and Krusty's famous restaurant.
